FAQ's
About CNTR:
What is CNTR? CNTR stands for Connect, Nurture, Transform, Rebuild. It’s a survivor-led, survivor-organized nonprofit working to shift the model of direct services from crisis management to long-term healing, community support, and holistic care for survivors of domestic violence (DV), sexual assault, and childhood sexual abuse.
Where is CNTR based? CNTR is based in Seattle, WA and operates as a 501(c)(3) organization. Virtual opportunities are available year-round and pop-up workshops outside of Washington State often take place.
Is CNTR a therapy provider? CNTR offers mental health services including group work and EMDR waitlist opportunities, but it is not a traditional therapy clinic. We focus on holistic healing supports and community-centered programming to complement clinical care.
More on Participation:
Who is CNTR for? CNTR serves survivors of gender-based violence, including domestic violence (DV), sexual assault (SA), and childhood sexual abuse (CSA), at various stages of healing.
Do I need a diagnosis to participate? No. Many offerings are community-based and supportive, not clinical, so a diagnosis isn’t required. Clinical services like EMDR may have additional criteria.
Programs & Services:
What types of programs does CNTR offer? CNTR currently provides: • Survivor Circle — a free weekly support group for survivors of DV and narcissistic abuse to share community and coping tools with trauma-informed facilitation. • Workshops — healing-arts and resilience workshops (waitlist/registration). • EMDR Therapy Waitlist — pathway to trauma-focused clinical support (sign-up available). • Community Events — ongoing offerings for connection and support.
Is there a cost? Many CNTR offerings like the Survivor Circle are free or community-supported, while some workshops or clinical services may have fees or waitlists. Contact CNTR directly for specifics.
Healing & Safety:
Is CNTR trauma-informed? Yes. CNTR’s programming and community spaces are built around trauma-informed principles that emphasize safety, empowerment, choice, and connection.
What does “trauma-informed” mean to us at CNTR? At CNTR, trauma-informed means we understand that many survivors have been dismissed, disbelieved, or made to prove their pain. We design everything with that in mind. It means prioritizing safety, choice, and autonomy. We recognize how trauma impacts the nervous system, relationships, and decision-making — and we always aim to build spaces that reduce harm instead of unintentionally repeating it. Being trauma-informed isn’t a buzzword for us; it’s a commitment to learning through the ebbs and flows of healing.
What does “survivor-led” mean? Survivor-led means that people with lived experience of gender-based violence guide the organization’s vision, programs, and supports — prioritizing grounded, real-world healing strategies informed by those who have actually walked the healing journey.
Getting Started:
How do I join a program or group? Most current offerings have waitlists or registration forms on the CNTR website. Visit the “Services” section to sign up or to join a workshop or support circle.
Can I get clinical therapy through CNTR? CNTR offers an EMDR waitlist — but we are not a full therapy clinic. We may help connect you with clinicians or support your pathway to trauma therapy on a case by case basis.
